A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University Teachers College, I studied the teaching of reading and writing with the best professors in the world, including Dr. Sheridan Blau, former President of the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE).
Experience
A seasoned educator, I taught high school English for four years at RASG Hebrew Academy and at iTech Educational Center. For three summers, I co-taught “Creative Nonfiction” at the Center for Talented Youth (CTY). Now, I am a private tutor and a Writing Center Specialist at Miami Dade College. I tutor students from many local high schools and colleges, including Miami Beach Senior High, American Heritage, International Studies Preparatory Academy (ISPA), and the University of Miami. Whatever your skill level, I can empower you: my students have gone on to the Ivy Leagues, aced college English classes, and won Scholastic Art and Writing awards. My specialties include SAT and ACT Test Prep, English class (grade 5 through college), college admissions essays, and creative writing. I earned a 760 on the SAT writing portion and a 740 in SAT verbal. I can guide you to your ideal score on SAT Verbal and the optional essay as well as on the ACT Reading, English, and Essay sections. Moreover, I offer invaluable guidance with the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting to revision and editing. My students strengthen key elements such as their theses, claims, supporting evidence, and analysis. They see major improvements in their grammar, writing, and reading skills. Finally, I am an expert at helping students craft college admissions essays. I taught high school seniors for two years; in my class, my students wrote exceptional creative nonfiction that won them spots at top universities.
