SAT/ACT Tutor and National Merit Hispanic Scholar Harvard Grad with 8+ years of tutoring experience and excellent references I have a background from Harvard in Psychology with an emphasis on childhood development. I have 6+ years of tutoring experience. I scored in the top 1% on both my SAT's and ACTs. I have experience with learning disabilities, ADD and ADHD, autism spectrum, and working with IEPs. I love to tutor! I believe that tutoring works best when it's done in a fun and positive way. I like to tailor the learning process toward each student, since each student learns a bit differently. However, generally, I like to start by understanding not just what your child knows, but how they think and approach the learning process. From there, I develop specific strategies and specific practice scenarios to really strengthen their abilities. I have a wide-variety of materials to pull from. Most importantly, I think it's important to approach tutoring with a light-hearted and fun attitude, to make it easier to really be engaged. Most kids are really busy with school, homework, and extra-circulars, so I believe extra studying for things should be as fun and engaging as possible! Also, I've helped multiple students with the college application process- everything from college essays to explaining special circumstances. I can provide excellent references and am willing to provide background check information as well. I've tutored college students from Wellesley, MIT, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, and Harvard I've worked with K-8 and high-school students from Weston, Lexington, Solomon Schechtor Day, Beaver Country Day, Newton Country Day, Milton Academy, Boston Latin School, Ross School (East Hampton) and others.
