Experience
I have a bachelor's degree from Florida State University, majoring in Women's Studies. I have experience in the education field working for a nonprofit organization in Miami public schools, where I helped high school ESOL students improve their English. I also tutored students in many different subjects through this program, working on essays, reading comprehension, Spanish skills, and general study skills. I helped students remembering what they were learning and improved their outcomes. I try to be an example and role model for my students, and my true passion is helping them reach their goals both in academics and in personal development.I am planning to earn a master's degree in Social Work. I am from a Cuban-American family of teachers. I grew up in Hialeah, and my family's guidance and a scholarship I earned to a private high school both helped me pursue academic success. I am thankful for the support that got me where I am today, so my desire is to pass that positive experience on to other students. My personal interests are social and emotional learning, social justice discourse, running, salsa dancing, and playing with my puppy. I can tutor Spanish, English, ESL, Literature, Essays, and Public Speaking.
