I plan to pursue a career in academic medicine in order to contribute to the field of medical education. My path to reach this point has not been easy. When I initially began college, I was overwhelmed and felt under prepared for the challenges that I was facing. I struggled with time management and received some low test scores. As a premed student, I had to quickly learn how to best overcome my challenges. Perseverance became the central theme to my endeavors and soon I found success as a student. I worked hard at my studies and was accepted to medical school at Duke University, which was my top choice school. Although I felt under prepared at medical school, I remedied my situation by researching study and test prep skills. I have since become confident in my ability to assess exam readiness and I have developed methods to strengthen academic weaknesses. My experiences in education and the tools that I have mastered to find success are valuable to every student, and I look forward to sharing them with others. I am a dedicated, lifelong learner and will continue to utilize these skills in my career. Outside of the academic world, I enjoy baseball, cooking, listening to jazz music, salsa dancing, and wine tasting.
