Experience
I earned a degree at the Education Canada College in Montreal for teaching both French and Spanish as a Second Language. I also studied at the French Ministry of Education and earned the top diploma they award in French language studies. In addition, I have a certification in teaching that I earned at the University of Havana in Cuba. For 17 years, I have taught foreign languages to students from different countries all around the world, including Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. When I began teaching, most of the focus was centered around grammar and the rules of language, but as the field has progressed and I have progressed as a teacher, the learning approach has migrated more toward learning through communication. I strive to identify, as quickly as I can, the strengths and weaknesses of each student so I can then tailor my lessons toward them individually and work in the way they learn best. I encourage all of my students to collaborate in asking questions and communicating clearly to me how well the lesson is working for them. I've found that when learning a foreign language, the speaking part is usually the most rewarding for the student. In my free time, I enjoy reading, dancing, sports, and listening to music.
