Experience

Math tutor Pre-college through Calculus I Lane Community College Eugene, OR General Chemistry tutor University of Oregon Eugene,OR Graduate teaching assistant Organic Chemistry for non-majors University of Wisconsin-Madison Organic Chemistry Lab Instructor UW Madison I love to teach.I feel that I gain a better understanding of my subject matter every time I explain a concept to a new student. Academia is where I feel that I belong, and I am ready to re-enter the field. I have a great passion for science and am never more content than when passing the knowledge I have acquired on to the next generation of students. I have taken the entire Chemistry curriculum offered at U of O, including a graduate level course on Total Synthesis. Including Physics with calculus, and Biochemistry. Also because of my interest in neuropharmacology I have taken the entire freshman Psych series offered at LCC (A+, 4.2 equivalent full series). And a Junior level Bio-psychology course. These classes were not required or even counted for elective credit I just did it for the knowledge. I also completed a course at the U of O Philosophy department entitled: The Philosophy of Science (again for personal enrichment). I made the Presidents List twice at LCC for maintaining an exceptional GPA with a full course load (General Chemistry, Geometry, College Algebra, Psychology). In 2002 I was a recipient of The American Chemical Society's Scholar's Program Minority Scholarship for Chemistry Majors. I received a Chemistry-Biology Interface Fellowship Research Grant from The National Institutes of Health at UW Madison. Where I worked in the laboratory of Steve Burke preparing early stage intermediates in a multi-step, convergent, parallel total synthesis of the natural product Halichondrin B a substance derived from a species of Pacific Sea sponge with potential chemotherapy applications containing 36 chiral centers(work published, reference forth coming.) Admitted to 6 of the top 10 PhD programs in the US in the field of Organic Chemistry (including Columbia University, and U. Penn). Test scores currently unavailable. However the lowest grade I ever recieved in a chemistry class was A- (Organic Analysis).
